Progress!

Good Morning everyone!

This is the fourth week of the six weeks challenge over at Calling It Home

Well, I think we have finally made some progress on the bedroom/nursery.

This week we hung the wallpaper (yeah!).

Oh my goodness - this was the EASIEST wallpaper I have EVER hung.
I can't believe we put off doing this for weeks thinking it was going to be difficult.

If you are looking for a bead board look and don't have the tools
or the ability to put up "real" bead board
 I would recommend this wallpaper.

It gives the exact same look and
 is WAY easier to do.

Plus, it looks FABULOUS!

Now, we need to get the chair rail and paint.
However, the paper needs to sit for several days before we paint
to make sure it is really dry.
I hope to do that this weekend -
maybe Sunday afternoon?
We shall see.

We have also been working on the windows.

Remember that material I ordered on OnLineFabrics.com?
Well, look what we did with it.

I still want to find some curtain panels
but so far I haven't been able to find what I want.

I might not be able to find them
before the end of the challenge - but I'm going to try.

If not, the shears looks okay for now.
That is something else we will just have to "wing".

Dan even made them with a shelf so I can decorate
on top when we get to the decorating stage of the room.
Don't you just love Nemo?

(I'll post a tutorial on how we did the valances
 in a future post.)

So, that's what we have been doing this week.

I finally feel like we got something accomplished
this week after several weeks of
detours.

Now, we're off to Lowe's to get the paint, chair rail, and some flowers for outside.

Have a super week!

  1. I LOVE that fabric. LOVE the color and the starfish and the fact it isn't an obvious repeat. I love what you did with it too!

    Beautiful!

  2. Looking good. I am thinking of making valances for our place. I have done it before, just not that difficult.
We finally heard from MLGW. They will try to start the electrical installation tomorrow. We hope so.

    1. Hi - The wallpaper is called Wall Doctor - it is really think and will cover things like paneling or cracked plaster. We didn't have that problem but they advertise that it will cover these problem areas. It is pre-pasted and really easy to use. I will say that when it is wet it will tear - but other than that we didn't have any problems with it at all. Hope that helps!

    1. Hi Sue - Thanks so much! I can't believe it took us so long to actually do it. Hope things are going well for you - how is the weather up your way? Things have finally cooled off here - it was actually 62 degrees this morning - but it won't last. Calling for temps back up near 90 by the end of next week. Ugh! Have a great weekend my friend!

  8. I'm SO glad to know about the beadboard wallpaper! I was just thinking about adding beadboard in a bathroom recently, but was lamenting my lack of a table saw. This might be the answer!

    1. Hi Heather - I wanted to do our bathroom too - which is the reason I bought the paper, but the hubs shot that down due to fixtures and stuff. Anyway, I'm glad I saved it for the bedroom. I love the way it is turning out! Let me know if you do your bathroom.

Where does time go?

I have really fallen off the blogging wagon I guess.  I can't seem to get a schedule down so I don't post - but it's been almost...
