My Easter Tablescape

Hello everyone - how is everyone doing on this fine day?  It is not very Spring like here in South Florida - it feels more like Summer than Spring with temperatures in the 90's, but I guess you just have to go with what you got.  In an effort to put a little more Spring in our house I decided to decorate the dining room table.  This is a little different for me, as usually only do that during the Fall/Thanksgiving and Winter/Christmas.  However, when my mom moved she gave me a set of dishes that I have loved for years - and I thought they would make a beautiful Spring/Easter table.

I am still looking for some things that will enhance the table setting, but I have to go with what I have now.  It is not as fancy or ornate as some I have seen out there in blog world - but I love the dishes and thought I would share them with you.

Welcome to my dining room.

These are my beautiful Spring dishes.
Each piece has a different flower on it which makes them just perfect for a Spring table.

I'm really not happy with the way the place setting looks - I think I need a charger under the plate - but I haven't been able to find anything that I like and can afford to buy.  I would love to find something in a pretty yellow - I did find some plates at Pier One, but they cost $6 a piece!  I don't have $48.00 to buy something that I am only going to use occasionally.  I would also like to find more formal looking placemats or tablecloth.  For now, these will have to do.

At first, I thought my solid white plates would work, but these plates are actually an off white and not a true white like my everyday dishes are - it just didn't look right.

So, for now I'll just have to make due with what I have now - and just keep looking for just the right charger plate, placemats/tablecloth (even napkins).

Do you like my chocolate bunny?

Well, guess what?  It is NOT real chocolate - it's plastic and I bought it about 5 years ago, but I really don't remember where - somewhere up North (that could be anywhere!)

A place setting.

How about the napkins?
Pretty huh?

Well, they are paper!

Yep, you got that right - I bought these at Stein Mart about three years ago and have just never used them - I think they just might go with these dishes.
Once again, making do with what you have.

I just love my "chocolate" bunny!

Okay -
 Let's look at each piece
in the place setting.

The bowls have "Nasturtium" on them.

On the salad plates are "Andromeda and Azalea".

Next, on the bread plate are "Morning Glory"

And the small bowls are "Double Daisy"

The tea cups have "Sweet Peas".
I absolutely LOVE the tea cups (and I don't even drink tea!).

I also have two platters and two serving bowls that are part of the set of these dishes, but they would be just too much to put on the table.
However, while I didn't take pictures of them the flowers on them are:
Large Platter: "Lily and Jasmine"
Small Platter: "Rhododendron"
Large Round Bowl: "Daffodil and Narcissus"
Small Oval Bowl: "Aster"

I really think that these dishes set such a pretty table.  I just wish I had the right pieces to show them off.

Well, you just have to take things in stages -  little baby steps.
There were so many things that I got rid of (sold/donated) when we went on the road full time four years ago.  I just have not bought a lot of new things to use in decorating yet - so many other things have been on the "front burner".

Plus, there is really no place to go shopping where we live.  I guess I could go to Lakeland or Ft. Myers to go shopping, but that means I have to take Mountain Man with me.  Now, while he is really good at letting me shop, he just doesn't understand buying something that "I can use later".

Oh well, I just wanted to share these beautiful dishes with you -

I hope you enjoyed.

Hugs -

Carol

Where does time go?

I have really fallen off the blogging wagon I guess.  I can't seem to get a schedule down so I don't post - but it's been almost...
